It's Ash Wednesday today and that means the season of Lent has begun. Each year I give up sweets for Lent, except when I'm pregnant during Lent or have an extremely difficult baby during Lent, then all bets are off. This year I kissed (literally) all things sweet and delicious goodbye for the next 40 days. But I've also decided to take on something and that something is to do my Bible study every day. I'm suppose to do it everyday. I'd like to do it everyday, but the truth is after a full day, I just want to sit and do something selfishly indulgent like read a novel or knit a sweater (I know, I'm boring). So my Bible study gets pushed back another day and I end up doing it all in one or two nights before my Bible study meets. But not for the next 40 days, my Bible will come first. I've also decided to post on the blog every day during Lent. I wish I was educated and versed enough to post Lenty things during these weeks, but I'm not and besides you probably don't want spiritual advice from someone who uses the word Lenty.
So there you have it. I'm also giving up biting my finger nails, but that's pretty much just for me and has nothing to do with God. What are you giving up for Lent? Do you give up anything? I've only been on the bandwagon for the last 5 years. One year I thought the idea sounded interesting so I decided to give it a try. And during those 40 days I feel closer to God. It's not about giving something up and having to suffer, it's about removing something from your life that you go to often, and with its absence you are often reminded of God and His importance.
See you tomorrow!
You are awesome!
