We went because the ad for the auction listed "tons of vintage Christmas decorations" and we would like to find some old Christmas lights. We are sick of the new lights that burn out after 1 season and new strands of lights are needed to be bought every freakin year!!! Did you know that strands of Christmas lights are only expected to last for 90 days? We actually read this on a stand of lights last Christmas. And then they are just trash and then everyone is just frustrated!
So anyways, we didn't come away with any Christmas lights but we did score a box of board games for $5! Most of them were from the 60s and really cool. They are in great shape and all the pieces are accounted for. We were all excited about our little treasure and many many games of Battleship, Sorry and Hi-Q have been played. Can't wait for marathon sessions of Monopoly when the kids are older. What is your favorite board game? Does your family play together often enough?
Each of these books were 25 cents. I got all 4 for $1. Seriously. And they all have been on my "to read" radar at one time or another. I'm so excited to have some time in about 10 years to read them! 
Another popsicle mold. You can never have too many, especially for 50 cents. This is the same mold that I have already been using too.
A water bath canner. Oh, dear water bath canner, how I have needed you; wanted you. And now I have you. And now I use you. And now I love you.
Chair number 2 is slightly more beat up, but has more details and carvings that sets it apart. I'm loving how similar, but totally different in appearances the chairs are that I have been coming across for the kitchen. I knew I wouldn't find a set of 4 matching chairs so 4 mismatched chairs all painted the same color is what I set out to find and I'm so happy with the outcome.
This side table I found for $8 and all it needs is some paint. I think I'm going to go with black and use it in my living room next to the couch.
THIS is what you call a GREAT find and it isn't even for me. I already have a KitchenAid stand mixer, but for $20 (when they retail for $350) you can't pass it up. And I knew that neither my mom or sister have one. All the attachments were even included. This one is a professional series that actually came out of a restaurant that closed.
I found these 2 necklaces for $1 a piece.
This whole bag of greeting cards was 25 cents. There are probably 40 cards totally and cover the whole range of greeting card topics. That just over a penny/card. Usually I spend $2-3 for a card. This will last me awhile!
I love picking up old cook books at yard sales. This has some good combinations that I'm excited to try. I have marked a few that sound really good. Old cook books sometimes are more entertaining to flip through than use. This one is both. Quite a few of the recipes call for MSG as an ingredient!!! I think I'll be substituting that one!

This great picnic basket cost me $5 and I have already used it a few times to carry food around. I love it! So spacious.
My neighbor had a yard sale and we scored some GREAT books for 10-25 cents each. Thanks, Cindy! :)
Magnolia is on a puzzle kick. We found 2 for 25 cents each.
Then we found 4 more for 25 cents each.
We have a couple of the Preschool versions of these Brain Quest cards. Now we are set for elementary school. For $1 each.
This is the soap I use in my 
10 cents...15 cents new about 30 years ago. I really pulled one over on them... 
So far 6 pairs of shoes for $10 TOTAL. 5 of the 6 are Stride Rite. I've been looking for saddle shoes and haven't found any in stores. I found 3 different sizes at 1 garage sale.
I'm trying to not buy any more Pull-Ups for Magnolia to wear to bed. They are dry about half the time in the morning, but when we tried wearing only underwear to bed, I was changing too many sheets. These are waterproof covers, 4 for 50 cents. I'm trying these with training underwear under them. 
A few pieces of clothes here and there. No, I would not dress my children in these 4 at the same time.
This set was only 50 cents and we have a couple other sets like them that are perfect for Magnolia to eat with. I'm not a fan of the plastic utensils for kids.
We got a whole bag of plastic plates, bowls and cups for $5. I will use the melamine bowls in the house, the rest is for playing outside in the playhouse, swimming pool, beach, etc.

The Easter Bunny brought Magnolia a box of "tell me a story" cards and we really like them. This set is a different story line and is in brand new condition for only $1.
A floaty for Boothie, $1. I also found the one Magnolia uses (it's perfect) at a garage sale last fall.
These were still in the box. Brand spanking new. I remember having a pair like this as a kid, but they were the regular skate kind. Now kids are MUCH cooler so only In-Line will do. $8.
A play tent for $5. It connects to a tunnel which Boothe is just so happening to be getting for her birthday!
A travel DVD player for only $20. Huh? Why were they selling this? Plugs into the car and hooks on to the back of the front seat for long trips or packs nicely for airplane rides. Having one of these isn't essential so I wouldn't have bought one at the store brand new, but I wasn't going to pass it up for $20. It will get more than $20 worth of uses.
And this. This is probably the strangest, most unlikely thing I have ever purchased at a garage sale. It is a 1/4 sized violin for young children to learn to play on. I had no intentions of having my girls take violin lessons...but now I do. It's a $200 (minus value for being used) violin and I paid $10 for it. As I debated whether to get it or not I realized that I could at the very least sell it for more than $10 on craigslist or ebay.
This was THE BEST garage sale find for Boothe. She gets so excited to see use it. I love that my cheap finds are used and appreciated!
