More pool fun with friends

The other day our good friends and Magnolia's best friend joined us at the pool for the morning. I can't believe we only have a month of playing in the pool left! On of these days I would like to have a pool of our own, but until then, we enjoy our Memorial - Labor Day fun.
Somehow I didn't get a picture of Brenden, their little one that is Boothe's age.

Grilled Corn on the Cob

Have you ever grilled corn still in the husk? It's our favorite way to eat corn on the cob. First you soak the corn in the husk in a sink full of water for 20 minutes or so. Place them right on the grill for about a half hour. You can peel back some of the husk to check for doneness. Lastly, shuck them and enjoy!
I do all I can in the summer to not cook in the kitchen. The grill is my go-to whenever I can during the hot summer months.

St. Joe, MI {part 4}

The New Splash Pad

Our last stop before heading home was the HUGE splash pad right off of the beach. I have never seen one so big before. And it is AWESOME! No one had swim suits since we weren't planning on going to Silver Beach and had forgotten about the splash pad. We were so hot already that getting our clothes a little SOAKED actually felt good. Boothe just stayed in her diaper and Magnolia wore one of Boothe's swim diapers that I happened to have in my diaper bag. Magnolia thought it was SO funny that she was wearing a diaper!! I was left out since I had the camera, but my mom and Dan took care of Boothe for me and I got a lot of great pictures.Boothe was a little apprehensive unless she was being held. The water was pretty cold.Jumping right in!Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid?Dipping her paci in the spray....And sucking it off! She had a whole system going.Dancing in the water...Check out those moves!Cool as a cat.
That's all, folks!

The Venitian Festival

I hadn't been to the Venitian Festival in about 10 years. It was always a popular thing to do in the summers during high school. I don't think there is anything "Venitian" about it. It is just your average fair with the games, rides and food. Magnolia is at an age where she really enjoys that stuff so everyone was good sports and we stopped for a couple rides, a couple games and some once-a-year-it's-ok-to-eat kind of food.Aunt Brookie went on the first ride with Magnolia. Mommy and Daddy had their fair share of kiddie rides at the 4H fair a couple weeks earlier.A little bit creepy, huh?Boppy escorted Magnolia on the second and last ride...the twirling strawberry.Ty trying his hand at a sure-to-lose type of game.Magnolia was the only one to win this bowling game! It was only a quarter to play, making it a great game for Magnolia to try out a couple times.The whole family relaxing in the grass after eating some frozen bananas, root beer floats and elephant ears.

St. Joe Pier

After riding the carousel, we walked out to the tip of the pier. My dad walked the pier many times as a kid and hadn't been back in years so he really wanted to take that walk. It really makes for a nice stroll with the water on both sides of you, the enormous waves and the cool breeze. We also thought it would make a nice family photo location.

My dad remembered both sides of the pier lined with fisherman back in the day. We didn't pass any and were wondering if it is still a popular place for fishing. Other than fellow pier walkers, we mostly came across groups of teens hanging out.

The New and Restored Carousel

Our first stop in St. Joe was to the carousel. We visited it once before in February when we were in St. Joe for my aunt's funeral. It's absolutely beautiful. A handful of horses are from the original Silver Beach carousel which was around from 1910-1971. You can read about the full history on their website.
